"Unity in Diversity"
Because of the strategic importance of its Cape Sea Route and comparatively early immigration of Europeans, South Africa's history has been considerably different from that of other African nations. Human triumphs and the people and events that occurred during the latter decades of the twentieth century have developed a nation of many cultures, whose national motto "unity in diversity" describes their nation of nearly 44 million people and whose coastline stretches to more than 2,500 meters (1,550 miles).
We begin in the Stellenbosch wine country and the Cape Peninsula mountains. We journey east, to see the Victorian architecture of Port Elizabeth, the Addo Elephant National Park and Hluhluwe-Umfolozi National Park, the extensive acacia woodland home to the rare black rhino.
Humpback whales sightings are not uncommon as we move through Richards Bay to, Durban – the third most populous city in South Africa. From this, the world’s 9th busiest port we commence our journey along the remarkably diverse South African coast
